Preventive Care


We follow the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) Preventive Healthcare Guidelines.  Our goal at True Veterinary Care is to catch problems before they happen so that we have a better chance of giving your pet a longer, healthier life with you.  Your involvement is crucial, as you know your animal best.

The wellness exam includes:


A verbal history from you including your pet's diet, activity, current medications/supplements, concerns that you have.

-Examination (nose to tail by Dr. Sarah)

     Eyes

     Ears

     Nose

     Oral cavity/Dental health

     Lymph nodes

     Haircoat

     Skin

     Heart

     Lungs

     Abdomen     

     Weight/Body condition assessment

     Muscles/Joints

     Pain score

     Behavioral assessment

-Preventive vaccination based on Lifestyle

-Laboratory testing: Annual heartworm/tick disease testing, annual to biannual fecal testing, wellness testing (blood and urine) based on lifestage and

-A discussion tailored to your pet's needs that could include: oral home care, parasite prevention, nutrition, supplements, exercise, behavior, weight loss, allergies, anything you have questions about.
